Happy Birthday Gavin

Well it's wednesday but this weekend and week has been a blast. Gavin is officially one year old. Yesterday was his birthday and we had a wonderful day. But first, let's start with the weekend. We have a huge concert and extravaganza coming up this weekend at our church so we had to have the party on the 11th. It was a lot of fun! A bunch of close friends came over and both sides of grandparents were here staying at our house. That was interesting to say the least. I made the cake because we wanted a family recipe red velvet cake or as we call it red cake.

He got a lot of really good presents. He didn't really enjoy opening them that much. He almost made the connection that there was something really fun underneath all the paper by the end of it all. He wanted to play with most of them right away and like I figured, anything that had to do with balls was his favorite!

He actually really loves this refrigerator magnet thing as well. It sings the alphabet and he carries it around the house playing it over and over again likes it's his personal cd player or something.

And he loves his guitar that he bought. He loves playing Josh's at the church so we figured he would love one of his own and he does!

It was then cake time! Like I said we had homemade red cake which is a family tradition. It was delicious! And Gavin liked it a lot!

Eventually a bunch of it ended up on the floor after he threw it behind him! We just gave him a rinse down in the bath tub after!

Now that he's one he can face the front in his car seat! What a happy day! One tuesday (his actual birthday) we went with my parents to the ga aquarium. He really likes looking at fish and figured that he would have fun. My parents bought us a season pass for his birthday so we are planning on going a lot.

This is one of the beluga whales.

When we first got to this tank there were all these people standing. This tank is really cool because it is floor to ceiling water and the wall is as big as a movie theater screen. It's really cool! So we get there and this lady starts to tell us about all the big fish and tells everybody to go sit down so everybody can see. So we all do. Then in the middle of her talk Gavin gets up and walks out in front of everyone right up to the water wall. So he is the only person standing there. I kinda feel bad but it is really cute and then we can get all these great really cute pictures of just him with no one getting in our way! So I just let him and pretend that I don't notice! Ha! Anyways, really fun and funny! He crashed the second that I put him in his car seat to come back home. What a great and wonderful time!

I can't believe that he is one now. It seems so strange to have reached this milestone. On the other hand, he is running around like a crazy person. He can climb just about anything. He has an opinion about everything and knows what he wants and doesn't want. He is not a little baby anymore that is for sure. He is a little boy in every way. So I have to constantly remind myself that he is only one.

Wow, what a big boy!!!! I can't believe how much they change in just one year. GREAT pictures! Your cake looks fabulous, and I LOVE the pic of him outside by his little car and when he's looking at the guitar, and the one of him in front of the aquarium wall. It makes me excited for the fun filled days ahead with Charlie... but it also makes me want to hang onto these baby days for as long as possible!!!
