Chaos and More Chaos

Today Gavin and I met some of our friends at the houston children's museum. We were really excited but didn't really know what to expect. The boys are 21 months and 15 months so we didn't really know what all there would be for them to do there. To our surprise there was some really cool things. They had a little city with a road down the middle of it and all kinds of different places you would find in a town.

They had a section of emergency vehicles that Gavin LOVED! He is totally obsessed with cars and trucks and any type of mode of transportation. In fact driving to the museum was quite the experience as for the whole 30 minutes I had to look at and comment on every car, truck, etc. that we passed on the highway!

They had a HEB grocery store. This is Gavin picking out a huge loaf of bread.

When we are at the real grocery store getting real food he never understands that you have to pay for the produce before you can eat it and we had the same problem here. Of course it was worse here knowing how many children had touched that (and every other) piece of fruit that he was sticking in his mouth!

They also had a dinner where Gavin cooked an omelet and served drinks to everyone.

This was Gavin's favorite place and caused the biggest fit of all as we were trying to leave. The Vet! Gavin took care of his puppy very well though while we were there. He gave him a shot, and a bath, and brushed his hair and loved on him a lot. He didn't mind leaving really just he wanted the puppy to go with him. Now, like I said, it was a great little thing that Gavin really enjoyed, however it was packed! We felt like we were running and pushing our way through everything. There were just too many people in there so you couldn't really let Gavin just relax and enjoy everything and teach and play and imagine because you were fighting just to get to the toys and the minute you left those things, they were taken by somebody else. So we went upstairs to the toddler section. It was really fun and a lot more enjoyable.

Gavin going down the slide, which he loved. It is so fun watching him run around. He kinda runs like phoebe does with legs all crazy everywhere. Very funny.

They had some cars upstairs as well and Gavin barely played with anything else.

He was even happy to sit in the back seat! Very unlike him!

They had a truck as well. Gavin would basically jump from one to the other. But Apparently, the truck is an english one. Must come from watching 101 dalmatians 101 times!

I was actually a little surprised at how well his imagination is developing. I know he should be playing pretend some but he really did that a lot today! For example, he sat all the cups on the saucers, asked for tea from the tea pot and then drank his tea. Of course, maybe the whole tea thing is also british inspired!

This was a pretty fun toy and reminded me of my lite brite toy. I loved that thing!

They also had a jungle gym section that Gavin was all over but it was really meant for little crawlers and toddlers so it didn't really hold Gavin's attention for that long! But this tunnel was really fun!

But of course, this ball toy was his absolute favorite! You put the balls in the top and then turn all the handles to move the blockers so that the balls can make it all the way back down to the bottom. If he stood on his very tip top toes, he could reach the top holes!

So, needless to say by the time we left he was starving and pooped out! The great news of the day, he actually stopped playing twice and told me he had to go potty! A HUGE step I think! So he never had an accident the entire time we were there! I can't believe that he has really gotten it down!

Hope your day was as fun and full of laughter as ours was!
