A New Hair Cut

Well, I finally decided to get Gavin's hair "really" cut. He's just under two and a half and has finally gotten to the point where he won't really sit that still for me to cut it. I couldn't keep everything straight and he would always turn his head at the exactly wrong time and would end up with a big chunk cut out of his hair on the back of his head. So I decided enough was enough and I would take him to a real person and of course take the video and picture camera and be totally retarded filming and capturing every moment! I had overheard some mommies talking about getting their boys hair cut at one of those shops that are created for kids to help the whole experience go better but they said that the haircut was really overpriced b/c of the atmosphere and the haircut was never very good. So, they had started taking their little boys to an actual oldtimey barber shop. So I decided to just skip the atmosphere and head straight for the barber, spinning red and blue pole and all. Thankfully my mom wanted to come with us. We talked about getting his hair cut all day and that if he sat really still he could go to McDonald's afterward. That had him really excited. So we walk in and wait for our turn. There was a man sitting in the chair getting his hair cut already so we got to talk about what was happening and how big boys sit really still and it's not scary. He was totally comfortable, talking to me, playing with the magazines, in his own little world. I told him I was going to take a picture of his hair before.
He wanted me to take a picture of the back.
Then it was his turn, I picked him up, walked over to the chair, went to pull him away from me and sit him in the chair, when his slight arm wrapped around my shoulder turned into a death grip and the screaming "Mommy hold you" ensued.
So, we all eventually decided that I would sit in the chair and Gavin would sit on my lap.
Of course I had just come from working out and was not planning on having my picture taken to be permanently placed in such an important day in our family's history. :) But, there you go. Gavin's first hair cut. He did a really good job sitting really still while she cut his hair.

I'm not sure if it was the promise of McDonald's or the constant supply of dum dum's that she handed him one after another while she was cutting. Whatever the case, we got it done, he loved it and tells everybody that his hair looks really cool now.
