A Great Weekend

This past weekend, well really week beginning, was wonderful! The wives of the pastor's on staff at our church were able to get away from the real world and spend some good ole quality girl time with each other, silly movies, cookie dough, and hours of endless talking all included! We had so much fun. We left our husbands and children sunday afternoon with the feeling of "good luck! love you!" and headed to a family's lake house from our church. It was SO beautiful! That night we got there and had a good time hanging out and felt really proud of ourselves that we managed to get the massive amounts of gadgets hooked up to the tv working all the right way where we could actually watch a little tv and a movie all by ourselves! We didn't have to call a single guy! The next morning was magnificent! I slept in until my body woke up and then went out for a hike, in my hiking boots and all. You see here in about 3 or 4 weeks Joshua and I are headed to Israel for a 12 day hiking trip. I am so excited that I still think it's all a dream. But, there needs to be some major training that goes into a trip like that so I couldn't just not really break in my hiking boots and lay around the house all day. It was quite an adventure in itself. I took of on these trails they have for their fourwheelers all by myself. As you go walking into this very dense forest, you start to notice little tracks in the mud and realize that there are all sorts of animals just feet from you. It looked like there were some deer tracks and I just started thinking that I would hate for a huge buck to think that I was stepping on his territory and come charging out of the forest and scare me to death or other things me to death, basically I wasn't ready to die. But thankfully that never happened! So I made it back to the house and was able to just sit out on the porch and have a really nice long chat with the God of the universe. Amazing. I went back in and everybody was talking and then Jessie, our Adult Disciplehip Minister's wife, decided she was going to try and figure out the fourwheelers and did anyone else care to join her for a ride. Well, Christy, our Senior Pastor's wife, said she would go, but maybe on a walk first and I thought oh sure, why not. I mean it's not like I have NEVER even ridden on a fourwheeler before, much less driven one, or the my husband almost killed hinself on one when he was younger or that Christy's daughter drove one up a tree at this very lake house not that long ago! I mean, what am I thinking? Plus, we get out there and really start looking at them, I realize, these things have a lot of buttons and triggers, etc. and I have no idea what any of them do! I'm just supposed to jump on and start flipping things to see if I can get it started? Right. We finally get that figured out and decide that maybe they need more gas, which of course is a whole other thing that we don't know how to do and have to figure out. Somehow we manage to work through all the possible solutions and get the things started and out of the carport! Onve again, without calling a single guy! We are feeling really proud of ourselves, now if we can just go on a ride enjoy ourselves and try not to die! Thankfully I had wlked the trails earlier that morning so some things at least looked a little familiar. But we really had a blast.
This is just me and the Christy, Jessie was taking the picture. It was so fun! It is rare that I have felt more accomplished. :)

Nice to hear that some of your heart's desires are being met! Girl time with the other pastors' wives - what a novel idea! Looks like you had fun...and I am super impressed with the 4 wheeler.
